On Saturday, February 8, BRITE Youth —
in collaboration with community partners, including LVUSD, Los Angeles County
Sheriffs, and the City of Agoura Hills — hosted a Reality Party for Parents at
a private local home. At the adult-only event, participants toured the home set
up to portray a teen party with volunteer youth actors voicing concerns
expressed by local teens and young adults.
Targeted toward youth (ages 12 to 25), parents, and the broader community, the Reality Party included the 30-minute simulation of the underage teen party followed by a 30-minute debrief and discussion with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department. The main goal of these parties is to help parents understand the current and local culture in ways that will help them have more relevant and meaningful discussions with their kids.
