Annual Breast Cancer Fundraiser in Calabasas
While the Annual October Hadassah Breast Cancer Event looked a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that didn’t affect the dedication and enthusiasm of the event’s organizers and participants. This year’s event, entitled “Memory Makeover & More for a Cure,” took place over a Zoom webinar featuring actress and cancer advocate Marilu Henner, along with Dr. Amy Kusske, MD, co-director of the UCLA Santa Monica Breast Center, who gave everyone an update on breast cancer.
Over 100 women participated—all dressed in pink. The event included a live auction where the women bid on jewelry, clothing gift certificates, designer bags, and other great items, and all donations went to Hadassah Medical Organization, which does extensive research for breast cancer. The event, which usually takes place at the home of Michelle Conwisar, president of Hadassah Southern California, was organized by Nancy Reiser, co-president of B’yachad Hadassah Southern California, and Carolyn Ormond and Judi Leib, fundraising VPs of the group.
