Homes 4 Families Women Empowerment Build

Homes 4 Families hosted its 10th annual Women’s Empowerment Build on May 12 with over 350 women participating at its Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® in Santa Clarita. Hundreds of women from all over the San Fernando Valley put on pink hard hats, rolled up their sleeves, and helped finish the remaining 18 homes in the Veteran Enriched Neighborhood, including four women veterans—Gabby (Army); Terry (Navy, Navy Reserves); Josette (Army); and Karen (Army)—who will be moving into the homes currently under construction. The nonprofit empowers low-income veterans and their families to enter the middle class by providing them with affordable housing and holistic services that build resiliency, self-sufficiency, and economic growth.

Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste and Mayor Pro Tem Marsha McLean were in attendance. Sponsors included Lockheed Martin, Anheuser Busch, Coldwell Banker, Jersey Mike’s, Sam’s Club, Starbucks, and Brinks Home Security. To donate or learn more, visit homes4families.org/we-build.
