20th Annual Calabasas State of the City Address

With a focus on women as leaders and protecting the environment, Calabasas Mayor Mary Sue Maurer delivered the city’s 20th Annual State of the City Address on November 14 at Founders Hall at the Calabasas Library. With a special section reserved for local Girl Scouts, Maurer recapped the city’s accomplishments over the past year while providing the over 200 people in attendance with a look at upcoming projects and goals. Maurer also named Calabasas resident Michele Faulkner as Citizen of the Year, honoring her for her ongoing work with the Girl Scouts, area schools, and local youth. Maurer, who shared that she recently became certified as a wild land firefighter, also saluted Los Angeles County’s Fire and Sheriff’s departments, noting the strides that they are making to welcome more women into what have traditionally been male-dominated fields.
