Dr. Joelle Abed Elahad and Dr. Shawn Nguyen deliver compassionate dental care at The Smile Spa in Agoura Hills. This family-owned practice, which opened during the pandemic, continues to offer a full range of dental services—from cleanings and fillings to crowns, bridges, root canals, oral surgery, and cosmetic procedures—making it a one-stop shop for all your dental needs.

“We’re available for same-day emergency care and pride ourselves on our ability to accommodate patients via text or phone 24/7,” says Dr. Joelle. “We provide same-day crown deliveries and custom night guards in as little as 24 hours, reducing the need for additional visits. And because we do everything in-house, patients don’t have to travel between offices.”

The Smile Spa also stays up-to-date with the latest technology. Both Dr. Joelle and Dr. Shawn are licensed in IV sedation, enabling them to treat the elderly, those with special needs or severe dental phobia, as well as the general public. Patients looking to brighten their smile can choose from an array of cosmetic procedures, including veneers and Lumineers®—a thin porcelain shell that fits atop your teeth—bite alignment using Invisalign®, and natural-looking whitening treatments. They also provide care for temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ) and offer dental implants to replace damaged or missing teeth.

Dr. Joelle emphasizes the importance of oral health in relation to overall well-being. “Gingivitis and periodontal disease can cause infections that lead to tooth and jawbone loss, bite changes, and other complications,” she explains. “Oral bacteria can spark inflammatory responses throughout the body.” She encourages patients to take preventative measures such as regular dental cleanings, oral exams, brushing, and flossing to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and related diseases.

Both Dr. Shawn and Dr. Joelle earned their Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology from the University of California, San Diego, and their Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Shawn pursued continuing education with a focus on surgery and implantology, allowing him to offer innovative dental treatments. He is also passionate about volunteering and has participated in various dental humanitarian missions around the world with the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Joelle is dedicated to creating beautiful, healthy smiles. With her keen eye for detail and artistic talent, she delivers natural and aesthetically pleasing results. She has extensive training in cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry and continually hones her skills through professional memberships and ongoing education.
