5th Annual Walking Strong Night of Strength Gala
Saturday, November 2 was a milestone evening for Valerie and Jorge Llauro, the founders of Walking Strong, who hosted their Annual Charity Gala, “A Night of Strength,” to support Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The Llauros celebrated reaching their fundraising goal of $1,000,000 in only 5 years, with $340,000 in donations collected that evening. The sell-out crowd of over 300 guests participated in silent and live auctions and enjoyed a musical performance by Keisha Renee. Also recognized during the evening was 18-year-old Elijah Stacy who suffers from Duchenne, who was awarded the first “Pillar of Strength” award.
Valerie and Jorge Llauro founded Walking Strong in 2014 with the goal to make their son Alexander and other Duchenne boys the first ever survivors of this insidious disease. Duchenne is the most common fatal, genetic childhood disorder. To donate or find out more, visit walkingstrong.org.
