“It’s been a long time comin’,” as the iconic song declares, and Alison Eastwood’s perseverance and passion made that moment on September 21 all the more special. Eastwood welcomed guests to the official opening of the Eastwood Ranch Rescue and Adoption Center in Agoura Hills, a new sanctuary for rescued cats and dogs. Eastwood’s journey began in 2012 when she launched her nonprofit with the dream of providing a safe haven for animals in need. A fundraiser held at billionaire David Murdoch’s ranch before the Woolsey Fire helped fund the initial vision, and over the years, support from generous donors pushed it forward. After overcoming the challenges of a global pandemic and years of hard work, Eastwood and her team transformed a vacant lot on Dorothy Drive into a state-of-the-art facility. This Western-style sanctuary fits perfectly into Old Agoura’s landscape, offering rescued animals a place of comfort and healing while they await adoption or fostering.
“We broke ground in 2020, right as the pandemic began,” Eastwood shared. “My hope is that this center will outlive me—a place where people and animals feel at home.” The ribbon-cutting event, hosted by the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce, allowed visitors to tour the beautifully designed spaces, where volunteers lovingly care for the animals. The facility includes shaded areas for play, cozy alcoves for rest, and air-conditioned rooms for hot days. Every detail ensures the animals’ well-being while they wait for their forever homes.
