Allen Edwards: Change Your Hair, Change Your Life
Credited with creating the iconic “Farrah Fawcett Flip,” stylist to the stars Allen Edwards continues to transform clients’ looks at his Woodland Hills salon.
During the mid-70s, when Edwards saw Farrah Fawcett on television pre-Charlie’s Angels, he thought, “I’d really love to style her hair.” Farrah’s friend Jane Brolin, married at the time to actor James Brolin and already a client of Edwards, brought Farrah into his salon. “Back then, long hair wasn’t that popular,” says Edwards. “There was very little layering to Farrah’s long, blonde hair. I basically fashioned the first long-layered look, which remains popular to this day.”
Creating hairstyles for such celebrities as Donna Mills, Rene Russo, Anne Bancroft, Diane Keaton, and Raquel Welch, Edwards became one of the most sought-after stylists around. He also produced hundreds of makeovers on television shows, including Regis, Leeza Gibbons, and Oprah. He even gave O.J. Simpson’s prosecutor, Marsha Clarke, a whole new look. After five decades, Edwards still loves changing lives and helping non-celebrities shine like stars. Allen Edwards Salon | 5353 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills | 818.914.5658 | allenedwards.com
