University Village of Thousand Oaks Family Day

University Village Thousand Oaks residents, their adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren kept a weather eye open for pirates, exotic animals, and other unusual visitors at the retirement community’s recent Family Day. More than 2,000 residents and their family members attended the community’s annual event, set to a pirate theme this year .

Swashbucklers roamed the grounds and gambled for treasure at the “Aces and Eights Casino” while the littlest buccaneers enjoyed a pirate ship bounce house. Back by popular demand, this year’s event also featured 13 exotic animals provided by the Wildlife Learning Center in Sylmar, California.

Musical entertainment, magic, crafts, caricatures, bocce ball, putting, and swimming also provided a full day of activities for young and old. Residents and guests feasted on a barbecue buffet, hamburgers, hot dogs, and other picnic food, a chocolate fountain, and a sundae bar.
