Monarchs Gym
Building strong bodies and bright futures
This summer, we can watch the amazing athletic prowess displayed by gymnasts from around the world as they compete in the Paris Olympics. Closer to home, our families can enjoy a slice of that athletic magic at Monarchs Gym, a leader in children’s physical fitness.
Unlocking the benefits of gymnastics
At Monarchs Gym, gymnastics is more than just a sport; it’s a holistic approach to physical and mental well-being with myriad health benefits. Through structured routines and playful exercises, coaches assist in the development of essential motor skills, improving flexibility and enhancing coordination, balance, and strength while making fitness enjoyable for every child.
One of the standout benefits of immersing children in Monarchs programs is the impact on motor-skill development. Using simple activities like jumping, skipping, rolling, lifting, and walking, the Monarchs coaches teach children how to control their bodies from an early age. In turn, this control creates a harmonious relationship between the nervous system, muscles, and brain, supporting physical growth and aiding in cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Exploring the classes at Monarchs Gym
Dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive, Monarchs Gym offers a variety of classes tailored to different age groups and skill levels.
Parent Tot class: Starting fitness early can set the stage for a healthy lifestyle. Monarchs Gym’s Parent Tot class is designed for children from walking age to 3 years old. This class is a delightful introduction to gymnastics where kids navigate obstacle courses that teach them about colors, numbers, and perceptual awareness while building strength, coordination, and flexibility. Parents actively participate, guiding their children and sharing in the joy of discovery.
Kinder programs: For children from 3 to 6 years old, Monarchs offers a series of kinder classes that build on basic skills and introduce more complex movements. All sessions start with a warm-up, followed by beginner gymnastics and tumbling exercises. The Kinder I class is a 50-minute co-ed session that lays the groundwork for physical fitness. As gymnasts progress, Kinder II (ages 3.5 to 4.5) and Kinder III (ages 4.5 to 6) classes introduce them to apparatus, like bars, beams, floor, and vault. The classes focus on building flexibility, strength, and coordination, creating a solid foundation for all future athletic endeavors.
Girls’ gymnastics: For girls ages 6 years old and above, Monarchs offers a comprehensive gymnastics program that includes a warm-up, group conditioning, and practice on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor. This program is designed to enhance strength, flexibility, and coordination while also encouraging a sense of discipline and perseverance.
Boys’ programs: Boys 4 years and older can join a program that starts with a warm-up and group conditioning then moves on to exercises on the floor, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. For those interested in more adventurous activities, Monarchs Gym also offers ninja and parkour classes for boys ages 6 and up. These classes focus on agility, strength, and balance, catering to the energetic and daring spirit of young boys.
Competitive team: For those showing exceptional talent and dedication, Monarchs’ competitive team program provides a pathway to advanced skills and higher levels of competition. This program emphasizes the development of young athletes through rigorous training and promoting sportsmanship and a strong work ethic.
Summer and holiday camps are also available at both locations, including Kinder, gymnastics, and parkour camps in Agoura Hills and Ninja camp in Newbury Park.
Whether through gymnastics, ninja courses, parkour, tumbling, cheerleading, camps, or even birthday parties, Monarchs Gym ensures that every activity is enjoyable and enriching. The only thing that outweighs the benefits of gymnastics is the fun your kids will have as they learn good sportsmanship and follow-through, growing bodies and minds together at Monarchs.
