Men of Distinction 2025: Steve Vartazarian

Steve Vartazarian’s journey to becoming one of Los Angeles’ most respected personal injury attorneys is a testament to hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to justice. His story begins humbly, working long hours in his father’s machine shop, where he learned invaluable lessons about work ethic, precision, and collaboration. However, driven by a desire for a more fulfilling career, Steve made the decision to leave California and pursue higher education in Oklahoma City, earning his undergraduate degree in business. His passion for academics led him to law school, and after passing the bar, he secured his first position in Century City, where he honed his skills in personal injury litigation.

Steve’s early legal career was defined by relentless learning, immersing himself in case law and medical records for years. He began in near obscurity, tucked away in the firm’s library, but his dedication and perseverance propelled him to senior associate status. Not long after, he met his wife, a fellow attorney working in Century City. The two not only decided to marry but also to build a firm together. They launched their practice in Sherman Oaks with little more than a secretary they could barely afford and a fax machine salvaged from the parking lot downstairs. A decade later, in 2019, Steve’s exceptional work in personal injury litigation earned him the most prestigious recognition in the county—the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles’ Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. By then, he had secured nearly half a billion dollars in jury verdicts and settlements. At just 45 years old, he reached a career milestone that many only dream of. The rest, as they say, is history.

Beyond his legal career, Steve is deeply committed to philanthropy. He is the past president of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyer Charity, which has raised millions for various causes. Every year, he hosts a charity luau, generating over $150,000 to support local initiatives. His belief in giving back is an integral part of his professional and personal life. For aspiring leaders, Steve’s advice is clear: success requires unwavering resilience, patience, and a willingness to outwork the competition. He emphasizes that there are no shortcuts—every achievement is earned through years of effort. Today, as a leader in his field, Steve continues to fight for justice, mentor young attorneys, and contribute to his community, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and dedication.
